Yup, Other is an Option
We have five main topics for this Institute.
Some of you will want to do all five.
But some of you won't.
In the interest of not wasting your time, you can always choose "Other."
What is "Other" exactly?
Scattered around the Innovation Lab, you will find:
These two days are yours to learn as much as you can about rapid prototyping tools. Choose what will help you the most!
Some of you will want to do all five.
But some of you won't.
- Maybe you have no interest in making 3d stuff out of plastic (the me before CMK gets that!)
- Or maybe you already know more than you want to about the Cricut (our friends from BFA should have written that part of this Institute.)

Scattered around the Innovation Lab, you will find:
- Two Intuos Wacom tablets. Try drawing in any program with these. They are pretty cool and you can create vector graphics or raster graphics with Drawpad or Paint.
- Two light tracing tablets. Find some graphics you like online. (Pixabay is a great source for free, legal to use images.) Mix and match them and trace the parts you like. Or modify them and add your own details. Try out the Hand Drawing to 3d Printing techniques on the 3d printing page, or make a graphic to use in laser cutting or smart cutting.
- A jewelry creation area. I teach Fashion and Technology, so these are materials we use for that class. Make one of your 3d or laser cut creations into something wonderful. Here are some quick start instructions on working with jump rings, earring findings and necklace chains if you are new to it.
- Iron and ironing board. In the bottom drawer of the smart cutting tools you can find heat transfer vinyl. If you want to bring a t shirt or something like that and try creating a transfer, feel free!
